HAYAT, the National Programme for Organ Donation and Transplantation in the UAE, is a system that operates in accordance with international standards of practice. The program, in collaboration with strategic allies locally and globally, aims to save and improve the quality of lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. HAYAT Program’s primary objective is to generate awareness and enhance efforts for the donation and transplantation of human organs and tissues, aligning with the highest international standards and practices in the UAE and the region. HAYAT follows a two-fold approach. Firstly, they emphasize the importance of adopting a healthier lifestyle to prevent organ failure (Kidney, Liver, Heart, Lung, Pancreas etc.) within our community resulting from mainly non-communicable diseases risk factors (NCDs). Secondly, the program mobilizes the community, encouraging individuals to understand the significant positive impact they can make by considering and signing up for organ donation. According to several surveys, the majority of UAE population strongly support organ donation and our plan is enhance public knowledge about organ and tissue donation to increase the number of registered donors with variety of initiatives by addressing knowledge gaps and various factors that result contributes to the phenomenon of “intention to action or Procrastination inertia” to match the level of community support for donation with increased donation registrations.
